Amazon Q Business is an AI assistant AWS offers to enterprise employees, allowing them to ask questions in plain language and get answers drawn from their company's own internal documents, databases, and software systems. It became generally available in April 2024.
Details
Amazon Q Business takes natural language questions from employees as input and produces text answers, summaries, and generated content as output, drawing on indexed enterprise data sources connected via more than 40 built-in connectors (including Salesforce, Slack, SharePoint, and Amazon S3). Responses include citations pointing to source documents. Administrators can configure what topics the assistant will or will not address, and the system respects existing user identity permissions so employees only see answers from data they are already authorized to access. A workflow automation capability (allowing users to upload standard operating procedures and auto-generate repeatable workflows) was announced as a forthcoming feature on the official product page as of mid-2026.
