Boston Children's Hospital deployed a secure, internal ChatGPT-based enterprise AI environment used daily by more than one-third of its employees across clinical, research, and administrative teams. The platform supports tasks such as drafting documents, synthesizing medical literature, coding, and improving operational workflows.

The hospital built what its Chief Innovation Officer calls an 'enterprise AI layer': a secure internal ChatGPT environment integrated with OpenAI's models. According to OpenAI, across more than 50 automations the hospital has captured approximately 60,000 hours in time savings, equivalent to more than $7 million in redeployed labor. The system is built on a shared foundation with governance structures for safety, monitoring, and evaluation, and allows teams to access internal data and streamline role-specific workflows.
