Before the pilot, quantitative measurements in radiology had to be done manually, and more complex image analyses were performed offline, outside the clinical workflow. The AI application runs on Red Hat OpenShift via ChRIS, a web-based medical image platform, and has the potential to automatically examine X-rays, identify the most valuable diagnostic images among thousands taken, and flag discrepancies for a radiologist. For fetal MRI, the system uses AI algorithms developed in collaboration with MIT to reconstruct image volumes from fragmented scans. As of late 2025, the Red Hat blog continued to describe the effort as a pilot.
