Data AnalysisNew evidence: Case Study: AI and the Art of Content Mastery at Paramount Global
Evidence AddedView practice →Paramount uses AI tools, including Amazon Rekognition, to automatically analyze and tag its video content library with descriptive metadata, and uses performance prediction models to identify which platforms are best suited for specific content. This work was confirmed by CBS Media Ventures SVP David Katz at an industry summit.
David Katz of CBS Media Ventures described using Amazon Rekognition to scan scenes in shows such as Yellowjackets, identifying objects, characters, and settings to automatically generate searchable metadata tags, reducing the need for staff to manually review footage. A second phase used AI tools to map emotional peaks and sentiment timestamps within episodes and applied performance prediction technology to suggest the best distribution platforms for different content types — for example, recommending YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok for Inside Edition clips. This work was reported at the GDS Digital Innovation US Summit in 2023.
