NotebookLM is a Google AI tool that allows users to upload documents, research papers, or other source material and have AI generate summaries, ask questions, create study guides, and even produce a realistic-sounding audio podcast ("Audio Overview") in which two AI voices discuss the material.

NotebookLM launched publicly in 2023 and became notably popular after the introduction of its "Audio Overviews" feature, which generates a conversational discussion between two AI-generated hosts based on uploaded content. It is positioned as a research and learning tool for students, educators, and professionals. Enhanced versions with greater notebook limits and usage are available in Google AI Pro and Ultra subscription tiers. Alphabet's SEC filings reference NotebookLM as one of the out-of-the-box agents in Google's Agentspace enterprise platform.
