Launched in 2015 and described by John Hancock as blending 'smart tech, data, AI, incentives, and behavioral science,' the Vitality program collects data from fitness devices (such as Fitbit, Apple Watch, and Garmin), health screenings, and nutrition tracking. The AI component analyzes this data to assign Vitality Points and determine a member's Vitality Status, which in turn influences premium savings of up to 25% for Vitality PLUS members. As of 2025, the program marked its ten-year anniversary and continues to expand with new health tech partners.
