Details
According to records obtained by The Shoestring and an internal EOTSS survey of AI use cases, the DTA rolled out an AI-powered call transcription and summarization tool in December 2025. The system listens to SNAP eligibility calls in real time, and after the call ends generates a structured case note summary that the caseworker can review and edit before saving it to the state's BEACON benefits system. Callers are notified before being connected and can opt out. The tool was developed in collaboration with Accenture. Full transcripts are not retained; only the AI-generated summaries are saved. The tool is listed in an EOTSS internal survey of agency AI use cases, though EOTSS withheld most technical details from public records requests.
