McGraw Hill deployed Clinical Reasoning, an AI-powered tool that presents medical students with lifelike simulated patient conversations, taking student inputs such as history questions and lab orders and producing dynamic patient responses plus an expert-benchmarked diagnostic feedback report.

Clinical Reasoning launched in October 2025, available by institutional appointment for medical education programs. Students interact with AI-powered virtual patients to practice gathering histories, ordering labs, and narrowing a differential diagnosis before encountering real patients. Each encounter concludes with an evaluation report comparing the student's choices to an expert-vetted diagnostic approach. The AI enhances natural-language patient interactions while drawing on human-authored, evidence-based McGraw Hill medical content. McGraw Hill reported over 3,000 medical learning institutions in its network at launch.
