Pika offers an AI feature that animates a static image into a short video clip, available to registered users on its web and iOS platforms. Users upload a still photo and the AI generates motion, camera movement, and environmental effects to bring the image to life.

The image-to-video feature accepts a static image (JPG or PNG) as input and produces an animated video clip with realistic motion, cinematic camera effects, and environmental animation. Users can also provide optional text prompts to direct the animation style or action. The Pikaframes variant of this feature, introduced in Pika 2.2 (February 2025), allows users to upload both a starting image and an ending image, with the AI generating the transition between them.
