PTC deployed the Windchill AI Assistant in April 2026, giving engineering and manufacturing teams a natural-language chat interface built into the Windchill product lifecycle management platform. Engineers can ask questions in plain language and receive answers or summaries drawn from product documentation already stored in Windchill, without leaving the application.

Windchill AI Assistant is delivered as a plugin to Windchill and uses generative AI to process natural-language queries against the platform's document vault. It surfaces relevant details from engineering tests, reviews, and technical documentation, references its sources in responses, and enforces the same access control rules that govern the underlying Windchill data. As of its April 2026 launch, the capability focuses on document search and summarization; PTC has stated plans to extend it to parts management and change management workflows.
