Schneider Electric introduced an industrial AI copilot, built with Microsoft Azure AI Foundry, that helps engineers write and validate programmable logic controller (PLC) code for industrial automation systems. The tool was introduced at the Automate 2025 trade show in May 2025 and is integrated into Schneider's EcoStruxure Automation Expert Platform.

The industrial copilot is a generative AI assistant that receives engineer inputs and produces PLC code drafts, checks for errors, and suggests library reuse to speed up application development. It integrates Microsoft Azure AI Foundry with Schneider Electric's industrial automation domain knowledge and real-time operational data from the EcoStruxure Automation Expert Platform. Schneider Electric positions this tool as addressing labor shortages and skills gaps in manufacturing by reducing the mental strain of repetitive coding tasks, while human engineers retain oversight and decision-making.
