HIBT uses image-matching and text-search to scan the LAION-5B dataset — a collection of roughly 5.8 billion images used to train models like Stable Diffusion. Artists can upload an image or search by text to see matching results, then opt those works out of future AI training. Works flagged in the Do Not Train Registry (DNTR) are honored by partners including Stability AI and Hugging Face. As of March 2023, over 80 million artworks had been opted out, with the bulk coming through platform partnerships with ArtStation and Shutterstock.
