Spotify built an internal AI agent called "Honk" that writes, tests, and deploys code on behalf of engineers — allowing developers to describe what they want in plain language and have AI handle the actual coding.

Built on Anthropic's Claude Code and Claude Agent SDK, integrated into Spotify's Fleet Management infrastructure. Engineers instruct Honk via Slack, including from mobile phones. By early 2026, 650+ AI-generated pull requests were being merged monthly. Co-CEO Gustav Söderström said in February 2026 that Spotify's most senior engineers "have not written a single line of code since December." The claim generated significant public debate about developer job displacement.
