Topaz Labs deployed Project Starlight in February 2025, a diffusion-model-based video enhancement tool that upscales and restores degraded video to HD quality with frame-to-frame motion consistency.

Project Starlight is described by Topaz Labs as the first diffusion AI model applied to video enhancement rather than video generation. It analyzes hundreds of surrounding frames to restore each frame, achieving temporal consistency — smooth motion without visible flickering between frames. The model has over 6 billion parameters and currently runs via cloud rendering because of its computational demands. It is available as a research preview accessible to any Topaz account holder, with paid cloud credits for longer clips. Starlight models are also included in the Topaz Video subscription and in the Astra web app.
