Announced at TwitchCon Las Vegas in October 2023, Smart Detection tailors moderation to each channel by learning from the approve/deny decisions of streamers and their moderators. As of 2025, it supports 13+ languages and leverages LLMs for data labeling in its model development cycle. GDC 2025 Machine Learning Summit presentation by Twitch Applied Scientist Linda Liu detailed the system's architecture, describing scalable NLP models and methods to leverage generative AI.
