Warner Music Group announced a licensing deal with AI music startup Udio in November 2025, settling a prior copyright lawsuit and establishing a framework for Udio to build a licensed AI music creation, listening, and discovery platform targeted to launch in 2026.

Under the agreement, Udio will develop a next-generation subscription platform powered by generative AI models trained on licensed and authorized WMG music. The platform will allow users to make remixes, covers, and new songs using the voices and compositions of artists who choose to opt in, with those artists credited and paid. Udio will transition away from its current closed system to fully licensed applications ahead of the 2026 launch. The deal covers both WMG's recorded music and music publishing businesses.
