Amazon Robotics deployed the Intent Detection System, a deep learning-based computer vision system that automatically identifies where warehouse employees place inventory items during the stowing process, eliminating the need for employees to manually scan each bin.

The Intent Detection System was built to reduce time-consuming bin scanning during stow operations, where employees place incoming inventory into storage bins. According to Waredock's description of Amazon's system, the model was trained on millions of video examples of stowing actions and deployed via AWS Elastic Container Service using Docker containers. The system watches the employee's stowing action via camera and automatically records the bin location for each item without a manual scan.
