Autodesk deployed AutoConstrain in Autodesk Fusion, an AI feature that automatically detects and suggests dimensional constraints and spatial relationships in CAD sketches. It became available to all Fusion commercial subscribers starting January 2025.

AutoConstrain uses a Transformer-based machine learning model trained to predict missing constraints and dimensions in CAD sketches. It analyzes a sketch to detect spatial relationships such as symmetry, proportional scaling, and part alignment, then suggests a set of constraints to fully define the sketch. Users can choose from multiple suggested outcomes or request more options. The tool is accessed under the Automate tab in Fusion's Sketch environment. Autodesk describes the prior workflow as manually specifying each relationship, which was time-consuming and error-prone.
