Autodesk tested Project Bernini, an experimental generative AI model that creates 3D shapes from inputs such as text prompts, 2D images, sketches, point clouds, and voxels. As of 2024, the project was strictly in a research phase and not available for public or commercial use.

Project Bernini was developed by the Autodesk AI Lab within Autodesk Research and announced in May 2024. It was trained on ten million diverse publicly available 3D shapes, including CAD models and organic forms. Unlike general-purpose 3D generators, Bernini focuses on generating structurally sound geometry — for example, ensuring a generated water pitcher is hollow and watertight. Autodesk described it as a proof-of-concept and did not announce a commercial release date; it seeded the later neural CAD foundation model work announced at AU 2025.

Autodesk offers MotionMaker in Maya, a machine learning-based animation tool that generates character motion from high-level user directions such as a motion path or key targets, rather than requiring animators to set keyframes for every movement. MotionMaker was introduced in 2025.

MotionMaker uses an autoregressive neural network trained on motion capture datasets to predict a character's next pose based on its current position and trajectory, producing natural, fluid motion sequences. Animators give high-level direction — such as instructing a character to walk, jump, or sit along a path — and the AI generates the corresponding motion dynamically. The tool includes a 'bring your own data' feature that allows studios to train their own local MotionMaker models using their own production rigs and motion-capture data, with Autodesk stating this data is not shared back to Autodesk. Autodesk explicitly states the tool is intended to support animators, not replace them.

Autodesk offers the Autodesk Assistant, an AI-powered chatbot built into select products that answers user questions about product features and guides users through support workflows. Initially launched in AutoCAD 2024 and later expanded to Fusion and Construction Cloud, it has since evolved into what Autodesk describes as an 'agentic AI partner' capable of automating tasks through natural language.

The Autodesk Assistant was first introduced as a natural language chatbot in AutoCAD 2024.1, available in English, German, and Japanese. By 2025, it expanded to Revit, Civil 3D, Fusion, and other products. In Revit it can execute design tasks like calculating window-to-wall ratios or replacing windows via natural language prompts; in AutoCAD and Civil 3D it can check compliance with drawing standards. It is built on Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and APIs.
