Autodesk deployed machine learning-based tools in the Autodesk Construction Cloud that automatically parse lengthy construction specification documents, generate submittal logs, and suggest potentially missing items. These features, including the Specifications tool and AutoSpecs, became available in Autodesk Build and Autodesk Docs starting in 2024.

The Specifications tool uses ML to extract and section project requirements into relevant specification divisions within Autodesk Build and Autodesk Docs, automating a previously manual document preparation process. AutoSpecs additionally compares current project specifications against historical project data to surface items that may be missing from submittal logs before construction begins. The Sheets tool separately uses AI to extract sheet numbers and titles from multi-page PDF drawing sets. Autodesk describes these as reducing errors and saving preparation time.
