Boston Scientific deployed the AVVIGO+ Multi-Modality Guidance System, which includes an AI software feature called Automated Lesion Assessment that automatically identifies and measures coronary artery blockages during heart procedures. The system received FDA clearance in September 2023.

The AVVIGO+ system provides intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and fractional flow reserve (FFR) capabilities. Its AI component performs automated vessel and lumen segmentation, automatically selecting and displaying lesion length, proximal and distal reference segments, and the location of minimal lumen area. It automatically measures diameter, area, and plaque burden to assist physicians in planning stent implantation and selecting the correct device size, reducing operator variability. Boston Scientific also received CE Mark for the system, with launch in Europe planned for 2024.
