ElevenLabs deployed a voice restoration program called '1 Million Voices,' announced in 2024, that uses AI voice cloning to create personalized digital voices for people who have lost the ability to speak due to conditions such as ALS, cancer, or stroke.

Participants provide approximately 30 minutes of audio from existing recordings (videos, voice notes, or other prior recordings). ElevenLabs' AI creates a digital voice model that can be used with assistive communication devices, allowing people to communicate in their own voice rather than a generic synthesized voice. In March 2026, ElevenLabs pledged $1 billion in free voice restoration technology to support 1 million people. As of that date, the program had supported 7,000 individuals in partnership with 780 organizations across 49 countries.
