The sound effects generator takes a text description as input, such as 'waves crashing' or 'racing car engine,' and produces an audio clip as output. Paid-plan users receive a commercial license for generated audio; free-plan users must attribute ElevenLabs and may not use output commercially. ElevenLabs stated that its original model was trained using Shutterstock's licensed audio library. The SFX V2 model, announced September 2, 2025, extended the maximum clip duration from 22 to 30 seconds, added seamless looping, and raised the sample rate from 44.1 kHz to 48 kHz. The tool is available via the web dashboard and API.
