In May 2025, the Fab marketplace was inundated when a single seller uploaded more than 41,000 AI-generated 3D models, many without the required disclosure label. Epic's Senior Director Sjoerd De Jong announced in an official forum post that the company was enforcing mandatory AI disclosure during the publishing process, deploying automated detection tools to flag undisclosed AI-generated assets, imposing daily upload limits to prevent spam, and empowering staff to assign the "CreatedWithAI" tag to assets themselves. The offending account was removed. Sketchfab followed in December 2025 with a similar mandatory disclosure requirement, explicitly stating that its systems may automatically apply the "CreatedWithAI" label if AI generation is detected. The Loci acquisition (Practice 7) provides the underlying computer vision technology for 3D similarity detection used to support this enforcement. ArtStation separately implemented user-facing filters allowing artists to hide AI-labeled artwork from search results in January–February 2023.
