The Phantom MK1 uses cameras as its sole perception input, processing visual data through Foundation's proprietary AI software stack. According to Sacra, the software integrates large language models for high-level task reasoning with proprietary action models that convert task instructions into specific robot movements. Foundation describes this as the world's first physics-action model — a hybrid approach combining imitation learning with state-based models that encode knowledge of physics and kinematics, which the company claims allows tasks to be learned in approximately 30 minutes. Customer pilots began in late 2024 in consumer goods, beverage, and glass manufacturing settings, with the company reporting 87% overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) at its first deployment.
