Google has embedded AI writing and automation tools throughout its Workspace productivity suite — including Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and Drive — allowing users to draft emails, summarize documents, generate images, transcribe meetings, and automate routine tasks using natural language prompts. As of April 2025, Gemini in Workspace provides business users with more than 2 billion AI assists every month.

Originally launched as 'Duet AI' in May 2023 and generally available by August 2023, the product was rebranded 'Gemini for Workspace' in February 2024. Starting in January 2025, AI features were bundled into base Workspace Business and Enterprise plans at no additional add-on cost. Key features include 'Help Me Write' in Gmail and Docs, automatic meeting note-taking in Meet, a Gemini side panel across apps, Workspace Flows (an AI agent for automating multi-step processes launched April 2025), and a 'Help me create' experience in Docs that synthesizes content from Drive, Gmail, and Chat. Gemini in Workspace serves more than 10 million businesses.
