Hologic deployed 3DQuorum Imaging Technology, an AI-powered tool that condenses large 3D mammography image sets into a smaller, more manageable set of 'SmartSlices' to reduce the time radiologists spend reading each exam. The technology received FDA approval in November 2019 and launched commercially in Europe in October 2020.

3DQuorum uses Genius AI-powered analytics to reconstruct high-resolution 3D mammography data, reducing the total number of images a radiologist must review by two-thirds. The AI identifies clinically relevant regions of interest and preserves important features during reconstruction into 6mm SmartSlices. According to Hologic, the technology saves radiologists an average of one hour per eight hours of daily image interpretation time, without compromising image quality, sensitivity, or accuracy.
