Ratified in March 2024, the Television Animation Agreement includes AI provisions that go further than the live-action TV/Theatrical Agreement in some respects. For example, consent is required whenever a generative AI system is prompted with a performer's name — regardless of whether a 'major facial feature' is included, as is required in live action. Additionally, if a producer creates any synthetic voice through generative AI — including non-human characters — they must give SAG-AFTRA notice and bargain for appropriate consideration. The agreement also establishes mandatory regularly scheduled AI meetings with producers, including discussion of methods to track digital replica use.
