Skylum offers a suite of AI-powered portrait retouching tools in Luminar Neo — including Skin AI, Face AI, Body AI, and Bokeh AI — that automatically detect faces and skin in photographs and apply retouching adjustments such as blemish removal, skin smoothing, and background blurring without manual selection or masking.

Skin AI receives a portrait photograph as input, automatically detects skin regions, and outputs an adjusted image with smoothed texture, reduced blemishes, acne, and shine, while preserving fine details such as hair and eyelashes. Face AI detects facial features and applies targeted enhancements. Body AI detects and subtly reshapes body proportions. Bokeh AI intelligently separates the subject from the background and simulates realistic depth-of-field blur. These tools are available to all Luminar Neo license holders. The Spring 2026 update (version 1.27.0) added Blemish Removal, Shine Removal, and Skin Smoothing controls to Skin AI, and expanded Bokeh AI to work with portraits and objects beyond faces.
