McGraw Hill deployed Teacher Assistant, a generative AI chatbot embedded in its K–12 math curriculum, which takes teacher questions in plain language and produces lesson planning support, unit summaries, and pacing recommendations.

Teacher Assistant launched in November 2025, initially within McGraw Hill's California Reveal Math curriculum, with a broader national rollout and integration into additional K–12 math and literacy products planned for 2026. The tool is built on OpenAI's GPT-4.1 via Microsoft Azure and uses a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) pattern indexed against McGraw Hill's curriculum content. Teachers can toggle it on or off at will. The tool does not access personally identifiable information (PII) and does not send data back to the model vendor for training. A broader national rollout was planned for 2026.
