McGraw Hill deployed Writing Assistant, a generative AI tool embedded in its K–12 literacy programs, which takes students' short-form writing as input and produces targeted, real-time guidance and feedback during the writing process.

Writing Assistant was first piloted in select school districts in fall 2024 and rolled out nationwide in November 2025 within McGraw Hill's Actively Learn and Achieve3000 Literacy programs for grades 6–12. Students can ask the tool for specific guidance at any stage of a short writing assignment and receive immediate, personalized feedback. The tool also generates per-student metrics that teachers can use to track growth. McGraw Hill stated it plans to integrate Writing Assistant into additional K–12 literacy products.
