On April 17, 2024, A24 posted images to its Instagram account showing fictional battle damage at iconic American locations, including Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. ArtNet, citing a source close to the production company, reported the images were generated by an AI image generator rather than by graphic, VFX, or CG artists. A source told The Hollywood Reporter the intent was to continue the film's 'what if' premise, describing the goal as 'powerful imagery of iconic landmarks with that dystopian realism.' The images drew public backlash for geographic inaccuracies and anatomical oddities common in AI-generated images, and A24 did not respond to press requests for comment.
