Maven is Audible's AI-powered search tool that understands everyday conversational questions and uses them to find relevant audiobooks from a catalog of roughly one million titles. Instead of typing keywords, listeners can describe what they're in the mood for — like "an uplifting story for a long road trip" — and Maven surfaces personalized suggestions. It launched in beta in August 2024.

Maven is built on multiple AI models (the specific models are not disclosed by Audible) and is capable of back-and-forth conversation, remembering context within a 24-hour session. About 16% of conversational searches include format-specific criteria such as narration style or estimated listening time, and 15% of romance searches request specific subgenres. The feature was initially available to select U.S. users on iOS and Android, and was expanded in December 2025 with a chat widget available on every page of the Audible website. Audible's Chief Product and Analytics Officer Andy Tsao described Maven as designed to help listeners uncover less-known titles across a very large catalog. The feature uses natural language processing to interpret queries that would not work in a traditional keyword search.
