Boston Scientific deployed HeartLogic, an AI algorithm built into implantable cardiac defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices that predicts worsening heart failure events weeks before they occur. The algorithm continuously analyzes sensor data from the implanted device and alerts physicians when a patient's condition is deteriorating.

HeartLogic became the first predictive analytic alert in an implantable device to receive FDA approval. The algorithm integrates data from multiple on-device sensors — including heart sounds, thoracic impedance, respiration rate, heart rate, and physical activity — into a single composite index score. Clinical validation in the MultiSENSE study demonstrated 70% sensitivity for detecting impending heart failure decompensation events, with alerts generated a mean of 34 days before the event. The system transmits alerts to clinicians via Boston Scientific's LATITUDE NXT remote patient management system.
