Details
Starting with the GBD-H2000 (March 2023), G-Shock became the first non-Polar brand licensed to use Polar's algorithm library. Features enabled by this partnership include Running Index (an estimate of VO2max, a measure of cardiovascular fitness), Cardio Load Status (which tracks workout intensity over time), Nightly Recharge (a sleep recovery score), Heart Rate Zones, and activity type recognition (distinguishing between walking, running, cycling, and standing). The DW-H5600 (May 2023) added a Smart Alarm that uses sleep stage analysis to determine the optimal moment to wake the wearer. Neither Casio nor Polar describes these features using the term "AI" in official communications.
