IBM offers watsonx.ai, an enterprise studio platform where data scientists and AI developers can build, train, fine-tune, and deploy AI models using IBM Granite models or third-party models, generally available since May 2023.

Watsonx.ai provides tools including a Prompt Lab (for testing and engineering prompts), a Tuning Studio (for fine-tuning models on proprietary enterprise data), and AutoAI (for automatically generating predictive model candidates). It supports IBM-built Granite models as well as open-source and third-party models from providers such as Meta (Llama) and Mistral. The platform can be deployed as a cloud service or on-premises, and offers APIs for integrating models into enterprise applications. IBM does not use client data submitted to the platform to train its own foundation models.
