In a 2025 GameSpot interview, Vincke confirmed that Larian uses generative AI during whiteboxing: rough placeholder level geometry is AI-generated so designers can test layouts quickly, and that generated geometry is replaced by hand-built art before shipping. Vincke also described experimenting with narrative validation, an AI-assisted system that would alert writers when a script change creates an inconsistency elsewhere in the branching dialogue, but said the technology was not yet ready. In the January 9, 2026 Reddit AMA, machine learning director Gabriel Bosque confirmed that ML-generated assets are used in the cinematics and animation pipeline for tasks such as motion-capture cleaning and retargeting. Writing director Adam Smith stated in the same AMA that no AI text generation touches dialogue, journal entries, or other writing in Divinity, and that a limited internal text-generation experiment produced results rated 3 out of 10 at best. Vincke confirmed in the AMA that no GenAI art would appear in Divinity, and that any AI model used to create in-game assets would be trained on data Larian owns.
