World Tester originated during development of Divinity: Dragon Commander (2013) and has grown substantially with each game. By Baldur's Gate 3, it could simulate player behavior across combat, dialogue, and menus; navigate the game world; and generate detailed performance heat maps showing where the game struggled. Multiple computers run World Tester simultaneously around the clock, pulling new builds automatically, logging crashes to the bug database, and routing reports to the relevant team. Producer Octaaf Fieremans described it as a first line of defense — human QA teams then review what passes. Larian has been clear that World Tester supplements rather than replaces human testing expertise.
