MathWorks offers MATLAB Copilot, a generative AI assistant embedded in the MATLAB desktop environment that helps engineers and scientists write, understand, debug, and test MATLAB code. It was launched in October 2025 as part of MATLAB and Simulink Release 2025b.

MATLAB Copilot provides several capabilities: it answers questions using MathWorks documentation as context (via retrieval-augmented generation), generates MATLAB code from natural language descriptions, suggests inline autocompletions as users type, explains unfamiliar code and error messages, adds code comments, and generates test cases using MATLAB Test. The assistant is trained on MathWorks documentation and responds with context-aware, MATLAB-specific information. It operates within the MATLAB desktop application.
