Amazon MGM Studios launched a dedicated internal team called the AI Studio in August 2025 to build proprietary AI tools for TV and film production. As of February 2026, Amazon announced plans to begin a closed beta in March 2026, inviting select industry partners to test the tools.

Led by executive Albert Cheng, the AI Studio is developing tools aimed at reducing production costs and improving consistency — for example, maintaining a character's appearance across different shots. Amazon is collaborating with producers and filmmakers including Robert Stromberg, Kunal Nayyar, and former Pixar animator Colin Brady. The studio has stated that its goal is to accelerate production rather than replace human creative contributors. Protecting intellectual property is a stated priority of the program.
