UMass Memorial Health announced a partnership with Google Cloud in March 2024 to use AI and machine learning to identify which patients with cardiometabolic conditions are suitable candidates for advanced therapies.

The collaboration uses Google Cloud tools including BigQuery, Vertex AI, Healthcare Natural Language API, and Looker to analyze large datasets of patient health records, clinical data, and biometric information. The goal is to build predictive analytics models that surface patients who may benefit from advanced treatments for conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, and obesity. The partnership is described as an active development effort rather than a fully deployed production system.
