Universal Music Group announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to extend the Music Flamingo AI model across UMG's catalog of over 3 million tracks, enabling music discovery for fans based on emotional narrative, cultural resonance, and detailed musical analysis beyond traditional genre tags.

Announced January 6, 2026, the partnership involves UMG's Music & Advanced Machine Learning Lab (MAML) — which previously trained its models using NVIDIA's AI infrastructure — and NVIDIA's Music Flamingo model, a large audio-language model that processes full-length tracks up to 15 minutes, capturing harmony, structure, timbre, lyrics, and cultural context. The collaboration also includes a dedicated artist incubator at studios including Abbey Road and Capitol Studios to co-design new AI-powered creative tools. UMG will also use NVIDIA AI infrastructure for internal business and creative processes.
