Launched in May 2025 and available exclusively on Apple Music, Sound Therapy was created by the Sollos team — a music-wellness venture incubated within UMG — combining producers, scientists, and audio engineers. The collection features extended, instrumental, and reimagined versions of tracks from artists such as Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, and Kacey Musgraves. UMG's in-house MAML lab researchers, including those developing the Sollos algorithms, contributed to the underlying audio processing technology.

Universal Music Group integrated Endel's AI technology to enable its artists to create wellness-focused soundscapes — music designed for sleep, relaxation, and focus — using stems from existing catalog and new recordings.
Announced in May 2023, the partnership uses Endel's patented generative AI to take artist-provided audio stems and transform them into adaptive soundscapes for daily activities. Artists and their teams retain final approval over static album outputs. The collaboration targets functional music use cases (sleep, relaxation, focus), not mainstream pop releases, and represents UMG licensing its catalog and artist relationships to an AI audio generation platform.
Universal Music Group operates an internal Music & Advanced Machine Learning Lab (MAML) that builds AI and machine learning tools to support artists and industry professionals, including large-scale audio AI and generative music technologies.
Founded by UMG VP of Artificial Intelligence Elio Quinton and staffed by machine learning scientists, MAML has trained large-scale models using NVIDIA's AI infrastructure. Researchers at MAML have developed technologies including the Sollos algorithms underlying Sound Therapy on Apple Music, and work on systems that understand and generate music for use in products and creative tools. MAML's work spans music information retrieval and generative audio modeling.
