Universal Music Group announced a licensed AI music creation and streaming platform being developed in partnership with Udio, a platform that will allow subscribers to customize, remix, and share AI-generated music built on UMG's licensed catalog.

Announced October 29, 2025, following UMG's settlement of its copyright infringement lawsuit against Udio. The forthcoming subscription platform — targeted for a 2026 launch — will train its AI models on UMG's authorized music catalog. Users will be able to remix existing songs, interact with artists' voices (where artists have opted in), and share creations within a closed environment. No generated music may be downloaded or distributed outside the platform. Financial terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
