Topaz Gigapixel AI was described by Topaz Labs as the first commercially available AI image upscaler, launched in 2019. It includes nine AI enhancement models including standard upscaling, face recovery, and generative models (Recover and Redefine) that use diffusion AI to reconstruct or reimagine image details. The tool can upscale images up to 16x and supports use as a standalone app or as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. A commercial-tier product, Gigapixel Pro, is available for studio and enterprise teams.
