Figma offers AI-powered image generation and editing tools across its platform, allowing users to create or modify images from text prompts directly within their designs. These features are powered by Google's Gemini (including Imagen 4) and OpenAI's GPT Image 1.

The Make Image and Edit Image features are available across Figma Design, Draw, Buzz, Slides, FigJam, and Figma Sites. Figma integrated OpenAI's gpt-image-1 into Make Image and Edit Image in Figma Design starting April 2025. Figma also announced a partnership with Google Cloud in October 2025 that integrated Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.0, and Imagen 4, resulting in a reported 50% reduction in latency for the Make Image feature. Additional image editing tools include one-click background removal, AI-powered resolution boosting, object erasure, object isolation, and image expansion. These features moved out of beta into general availability on July 24, 2025 and are available to users on paid plans.
