Figma offers First Draft, an AI feature that generates starter UI layouts and component arrangements from a text prompt inside Figma Design. Designers describe what they need, and the AI assembles a design from Figma's proprietary component libraries as a starting point.

First Draft (originally called Make Designs) was announced at Config 2024 in June 2024 and briefly pulled after outputs closely resembled Apple's Weather app due to issues with the underlying design system. Figma relaunched it as First Draft with updated design system components, including four libraries ranging from lo-fi wireframes to high-fidelity designs. The feature uses off-the-shelf third-party models, specifically OpenAI's GPT-4o and Amazon Titan, to select, arrange, and customize design system components based on user prompts; it does not train on customer content. It is available on paid plans with a Full seat in Figma Design.
