iRobot deployed Enhanced Dirt Detect Technology in the Roomba Combo 10 Max (2024), adding camera-based visual analysis to existing sensor-based dirt detection so the robot can spot dirty floor areas and make multiple cleaning passes in those spots up to eight times more frequently than previous models.

Earlier Roomba models used acoustic and optical sensors to detect concentrations of debris, triggering Dirt Detect mode. The Roomba Combo 10 Max extended this with a camera that visually pinpoints dirt on the floor surface, enabling the robot to identify the dirtiest areas more reliably and increase targeted repeat passes. This enhancement is part of the iRobot OS intelligence platform and works alongside the machine learning-based mapping system.
