Practice documented: Linearity offers an AI-powered Background Removal Tool in Linearity Curve that automatically strips the background from a photo in one tap. Designers select a raster image and click a button; the AI detects the subject's edges and returns a transparent-background cutout ready for use in designs.

Practice documented: Linearity offered an AI Backgrounds feature in Linearity Curve that generated custom photo backgrounds from a text prompt or preset theme selection. As of the most recently available primary sources, the feature is listed as currently unavailable, with Linearity stating it will return in a future update. When active, the tool allowed Pro or Organization subscribers to type a description or pick a preset style, and the AI produced a new scene around a product or subject without a physical photoshoot.

Practice documented: Linearity offers an Auto Animate feature in Linearity Move that automatically generates animated transitions between static design frames. Designers create artboards representing key moments of an animation, and the tool produces the in-between motion automatically with one click.

Practice documented: Linearity offers an AI Grab feature in Linearity Curve that separates a photo's main subject from its background in one tap, placing the subject on its own layer and filling in the background behind it automatically. This allows designers to reposition the subject freely within a design without manual cutout work.

Linearity offers an AI-powered Auto Trace feature in Linearity Curve that converts raster images — such as scanned sketches, photos, or digital illustrations — into editable vector graphics in seconds. The tool automatically selects the best tracing mode for the image type and outputs scalable vector shapes.

Auto Trace uses a custom algorithm and a CoreML machine-learning model to analyze an input raster image and determine whether to apply Sketch, Photo, Illustration, or Basic Shapes mode. The Illustration Mode uses a neural network trained on thousands of manually traced images. The tool produces editable vector paths and shapes with adjustable parameters for detail level, color precision, and gradient smoothness. It was first launched in 2019 as part of Vectornator and received a major upgrade with new modes including the Illustration Mode (released in app version 4.9.0) and Basic Shapes.

Linearity offered an AI Backgrounds feature in Linearity Curve that generated custom photo backgrounds from a text prompt or preset theme selection. As of the most recently available primary sources, the feature is listed as currently unavailable, with Linearity stating it will return in a future update. When active, the tool allowed Pro or Organization subscribers to type a description or pick a preset style, and the AI produced a new scene around a product or subject without a physical photoshoot.

The feature uses a custom generative AI model built on Stable Diffusion and ControlNet, trained by Linearity's machine learning team for approximately 240 hours on an A6000 Ada GPU. It takes a raster image as input, isolates the foreground subject, and generates a new background that accounts for lighting, shadows, and reflections. Users can choose from preset theme categories (such as Minimalist, Nature, or Cityscapes) or write their own text prompt of up to 400 characters.

Linearity offers an Auto Animate feature in Linearity Move that automatically generates animated transitions between static design frames. Designers create artboards representing key moments of an animation, and the tool produces the in-between motion automatically with one click.

Auto Animate is a content-aware feature that compares the state of design elements across multiple artboards imported from Linearity Curve, Figma, or Adobe Illustrator. It detects layer and element changes between artboards, such as position and color shifts, and automatically creates animated transitions. For example, if a shape is yellow on one artboard and red on the next, Auto Animate generates the color transition. Linearity Move launched in January 2024, with the Auto Animate feature included at launch. Silicon Canals reported that the tool is capable of 'slashing costs by 90 per cent and quadrupling production speed' compared to traditional motion graphics workflows.
