The Prudential AI Lab, based in Singapore, is a collaborative initiative between Prudential plc and Google Cloud that provides a platform for approximately 15,000 employees to contribute ideas and experiment with AI applications. The lab has developed over 100 use cases across claims, underwriting, customer engagement, and internal IT solutions. One active application uses Google's MedLM large language model to analyze health insurance claim documents — including diagnostic reports, prescriptions, and invoices — to improve the speed and accuracy of claims decisions. Proof-of-concept tests showed the approach doubled the automation rate of claim reviews. The lab also tested AI agents for concierge services such as scheduling appointments.

Prudential Financial deployed PruFast Track, an AI-driven accelerated underwriting system, to evaluate life insurance applications using a statistical model and third-party data, allowing eligible applicants to receive a coverage decision in days without a medical exam.
PruFast Track is powered by Prudential's proprietary Risk Assessment Mortality Model (RAMM), which uses applicant data and third-party data sources to assess risk and determine whether an applicant qualifies for an accelerated approval path. The system can accelerate up to a third of life insurance applications, with 80 percent of those underwritten within 48 hours, compared to over 30 days under traditional processes. Prudential's Individual Life Insurance division uses PruFast Track for its entire Single Life portfolio, initially launched with Prudential Advisors in Q3 2016 before expanding to external distribution partners.
Prudential Financial uses AI-powered virtual assistants, including a chatbot called Rockwell and an Einstein-powered bot deployed via Salesforce, to handle common customer service inquiries related to insurance policies and tax questions.
Prudential's official newsroom identified Rockwell as an AI-powered virtual assistant supporting customer service as of at least June 2023. Separately, Prudential deployed Salesforce Einstein-powered chatbots in 2020 to handle tax-related inquiries during peak season, allowing customers to get quick answers to common questions (such as locating tax statements) without calling an agent. Since 2020, these chatbots have deflected thousands of calls, resulting in significant cost savings and freeing human agents for more complex cases. The scope of Rockwell's specific technical architecture and exact deployment date are not confirmed in available primary sources.
